The musical Chicago arrives at the Cervantes Theater in Malaga

Between July 18 and August 4, the municipal stage hosts 22 performances of the same production that can currently be seen at the Ambassador Theater in New York.

On April 3, pre-sale of tickets for this great show was opened, which 34 million people around the world have already seen and which 24 artists perform on stage.

Chicago arrives this summer at the Teatro Cervantes with the support of its more than 34 million spectators in 38 countries, more than 60 international awards including the Tony for best musical and a great production that continues to triumph at the Teatro Apolo de Madrid, where every night is applauded by thousands of spectators. The quintessential Broadway musical will be staged between July 18 and August 4 in Malaga, in 22 performances of the same production that can currently be seen at the Ambassador Theater in New York, a SOM Produce show starring 24 performers (actors-singers-dancers) who will join the trail of great artists who have already performed it on stage. Among them, stars of the stature of Lizza Minelli, Melanie Griffith, Patrick Swayze, Sofía Vergara or, most recently, Pamela Anderson.

With this national tour promoted by SOM Produce, 27 years after its premiere on Broadway, the unstoppable success of the legendary show created by three of the greatest exponents of musical theater of all time, John Kander, Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, continues.

About the musical:

Chicago is an exciting story about greed, murder and show business, packed with hits like ‘All That Jazz’ and ‘Razzle Dazzle’. The musical has all the elements that make Broadway the cradle of the best musicals: a universal story of fame and fortune, a legendary score and choreography recognized as among the best in history.

Set amid the extravagant decadence of the 1920s, Chicago tells the story of Roxie Hart, a housewife and nightclub dancer, who maliciously murders her lover when he threatens to leave her. Desperate to avoid conviction, Roxie fools the public, the media, and her cellmate and rival, Velma Kelly, and hires the most skilled lawyer in the city of Chicago, Billy Flynn. This famous lawyer will turn his crime into a smokescreen of sensational headlines of the style that can be read today in newspaper scandal magazines.

Written by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, with music by John Kander, lyrics by Ebb and choreography by Fosse, the musical Chicago has been awarded 6 Tony® Awards, 2 Olivier Awards and 1 Grammy®, among many others totaling more than 60 international awards.
