Luxury in Puerto Banús is on track with a very positive summer

Puerto Banús is the largest concentration of luxury commercial premises in Spain after Madrid’s Golden Mile. 100 firms with the most internationally sought-after fashion boutiques along the two-kilometre length of the Port certify this.

The estimated turnover of these premises this summer has increased by 8.9% compared to last year, led by exclusive international tourism which concentrates 75% of the purchases.

If this trend of the first 8 months of the year continues, the forecast for the end of the year will be €307 million, which represents a significant impact both on jobs and on the generation of income for the city of Marbella.

North American luxury tourism has increased in a very notable way, practically tripling (295%) the luxury purchases in the boutiques of the Port. This increase is motivated both by the implementation of direct flights to Malaga from the USA, and the strength of the Malaga technological hub, which attracts senior executives from Silicon Valley companies.

However, Arab tourism continues to lead the way in shopping in Puerto Banús. The average spending of each exclusive Arab tourist in Europe reaches €59,000 per visit, and in addition to traditional destinations such as Paris, Milan and Madrid, Monaco, St. Tropez and Marbella have been added. The Arab luxury tourism buyer in Puerto Banús basically buys fashion (35%) and leather goods and handbags (31%), having practically doubled (195%) the purchases they made in 2019.

Practically all luxury brands are present in Civitas Puerto Banús: Bvlgari, Rolex, Loro Piana, Dior, Hermés, Louis Vuitton, Loewe, Saint Laurent, Carolina Herrera, Dolce Gabbana, Valentino, Jimmy Choo, Bottega Veneta, etc.

With more than 50 years of history, Puerto Banús is one of the most attractive marinas and tourist and entertainment destinations at a national and international level. It receives an average of 5 million visitors a year and its impact as a tourist destination generates €954 million annually for the GDP of the Costa del Sol, according to PwC.

With 915 moorings and more than 200 commercial premises, it is recurrently classified as the first marina and one of the most luxurious holiday destinations in Spain.

Having started a strategic change in 2018, Puerto Banús is immersed in a process to become the European port of reference in terms of sustainability and the environment, having installed new regeneration systems for biodiversity, obtained the Blue Flag that only 30% of Spanish ports have and carried out in-depth studies on the protection of biodiversity and research with prestigious Andalusian universities, among many other actions.
